If someone you loved was in the hospital, but you were seperated by a great distance, how could you still be there with them, to help them through their tough time? Piano player Dusty Knapp was miles away when he heard the news that his dad was in the hospital. Was it a heart attack? Dusty couldn't rush to his dad's side, since dad was in Upstate New York and Dusty was in Nashville. So he did the next best thing a piano playing son could do. He recorded a CD. If he couldn't be there in body, at least he could be there in spirit.
That CD, titled "Reflections of Worship," features Dusty's expressive, passionate piano playing. It's a beautifully arranged and performed mix of solo instrumental hymns, as well as praise and worship favorites, with a couple originals that will draw you closer to God, soothe your soul, and relax your mind. It helped Dusty's dad get out of the hospital sooner than expected, so if you know anyone who needs to relax and heal, "Reflections of Worship" will help them get through their toughest time.
"My CD project came from a family emergency," says Dusty. "My mom had asked for a copy of my playing to get to my dad; he had just gone in the hospital for a possible heart attack, and she wanted to give him something from me that would help him to relax."
Dusty sent the CD from Nashville to his parents in East Pembroke, NY, and made an impression on not only his parents, but others who have heard it as well.
"After some requests that started coming in, I realized I had something that could help others," says Dusty. "I went back to the studio, polished up the project, got the paperwork and artwork in order, and had some CDs produced."
The CD helped his father get released earlier than the doctors expected, as they found the music helped their patient relax and allow his body to heal. In addition, the CD ended up in a daycare center, where it was used to calm and focus the children.
As a youngster, starting at the early age of 3, Dusty discovered he was gifted with a talent for music and a passion to match. After years of playing music for all types of crowds and situations, the former Akron, NY resident has grown to become a serious contender in the music industry as a keyboard and Hammond B3 player.
Dusty now lives in Music City U.S.A. (aka Nashville), and has worked with many artists of all levels doing sessions and/or live gigs around the country. Some of the artists he has worked with include: Larry Bagby, Stony Run, Michael Peterson, Tommy Cash, Donnie Miller, Scott Partridge, Doug Yeomans, Bobby Carmichael, Valerian Ruminski, Joe Walker, Dave Dalgano, The Border City Blues Band, Craig Wilkins, Julie Dunlap, Ps100, Brooke Yaiser, The Patty Parks Band, The Lonestar Texas Swing Band, Adam Pope, Matt Walker, Josie Waverly, and many others.
Playing with these singers and bands has given Dusty the experience of opening for acts such as Dallas Holm, Billy Ray Cyrus, Loretta Lynn, Yankee Grey, Lonestar, Brad Paisley, Keith Urban, Jessica Andrews, and Randy Travis.
“I am very fortunate to have been given the opportunity to be called to play with the great acts and artists that I have,” Dusty says. “The exposure to the different styles and genres of music has inspired me to be creative with my own styling. I thank my Lord Jesus Christ for the talents and the opportunities He has given me.”
