Paid In Full is a rare Christian rock band because unlike the tight black shirt wearing Nashville-controlled Christian rock bands who expect upwards of $8,000 to play a concert to tell people about Jesus, the members of Paid In Full aren't in it to make money. The band took time to answer a few questions from ChristianMusicDaily.com's Mark Weber about their ministry-oriented praise/pop/rock band. ![]() Paid In Full Q) Paid In Full has been together since 2002. How have you changed as a band over the years? A) Over the last few years our music has continued to mature and develop, we have become an even closer knit group of friends and, most importantly, we have grown spiritually with our relationships in the Lord. Q) If you had to compare your band to nationally-known bands, who do you sound/look like? A) It is difficult to say who to compare our sound to. We have many musical influences and we all come from vastly different musical backgrounds. Some of the artists we cover include Casting Crowns, Third Day, Kutless, and Todd Agnew. Many of our originals are similar in sound and style to bands like Lifehouse, BarlowGirl and Evanescence. Q) Your band has both a male and female lead vocalist and that sets you apart. How do audiences seem to respond to that? A) This dynamic gives us a lot of opportunity. Our audiences love the many styles and musicality our songs offer because of it. Q) Describe your typical audience. A) Typical audiences vary. Because Paid In Full has such a variety of styles and songs, the group is flexible to perform for all audiences types. We have played at nursing homes, youth events, church events, inner-city events, biker rallies, coffee houses and festivals with people of all ages present. Q) Name some of the churches in Western New York you have played most recently. A) New Covenant, Word of Life Christian Fellowship, Lockport Alliance, Greece Assembly of God, New Life Bible Church, New Hope Fellowship, Crosswinds and Fairport Community Baptist. Q) What are some of the events you've played in Western New York recently? A) The Amazon River Churches' Concert Series, Jam for the Lamb, Apple Blossom Festival, Youth Extreme (with Scarlet Thread Ministries), The Lighthouse Café, Marion Heritage Days, Niagara Motorcycle Rally (with the Christian Motorcyclist Association), Joshua Revolution Rallies & Kingdom Bound Christian Music Festival. Q) What do you think makes your band special or unique? A) Paid In Full is a full-time, not-for-profit organization that has been blessed to do many things. Besides playing music, Paid In Full Inc. can provide a full stage, light and sound set-up for events while providing a production crew. Q) Why should someone come see your band perform? A) With a unique blend of covers and originals, a show with Paid In Full leaves you feeling both entertained and brought closer to God. Q) What are the most popular songs you do in concert and why? A) Our covers are always enjoyed, but we are often told that our originals are passionate and powerful. Some of our most popular originals include: * Long Road Home-- this is a favorite based on the message of the words. The song talks about taking that path home to Christ, even though it may seem like a long and difficult road to travel here on earth. * Absent-- this is a favorite for Christians since to be "absent from the body means to be present with the Lord." The four part harmony on the bridge of this song is remarkable. * On To Sinai-- the jazzy/rock style and catchy melody make this a favorite for all ages. * Souls-- once again the amazing message of these lyrics moves listeners. This song talks about how God will carry us through all life's struggles. The lyrics, mixed with a rock beat, make this song much loved. * I Will Not Be Moved-- this song is a favorite among the band members. Cassie and Tommy share the lead and their voices, along with the lyrics, are powerful. Q) Besides being in the band, what else do you and the band members do for fun and work? A) All the members of Paid In Full have full-time jobs and are actively involved with serving in leadership positions at their home church, New Life Bible Church of the Christian and Missionary Alliance. They are just a group of normal friends, hanging out by day yet superheroes by night. Q) What would you tell a hurting person who said that God wasn't real, loving, or helpful? A) Souls, which is one of our original songs, says it perfectly. The song states that your soul can get weighed down with the trials of life and how Jesus is the only One with the saving truth that can set us free. Because, with every struggle they can't get through, when they feel the fight to live has left them, when they've been broken beyond all mend…GOD can and will carry them. II Peter 3:9 says "For the Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness, but is long-suffering not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." The problem is not that God isn't real, loving or helpful…because God showed us the ultimate display of love by sending His Son, Jesus, to pay for our sin debt/punishment in full. Q) Anything else you'd like people to know about your band? A) Paid In Full does not ask for money. We are a ministry that relies on the Lord to provide. If He opens up an opportunity of us, then we will go regardless of the financial situation. Since we are a not-for-profit organization, we never take in a profit. As band members, we do not take any sort of salary. All finances go back into the ministry. We do not actively seek shows. We average about 30 – 40 shows a year, the majority of which have shown up on our doorstep. The purpose of this ministry is to show God's glory and to abide by the great commission. Matthew 28:19 says “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.” Q) Does your band aspire to be regionally or nationally known or is it more to bless Rochester and WNY? A) Paid In Full has always lived by the Bible verse Isaiah 6:8 which says, "I heard the voice of the Lord saying, 'Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?' Then said I, 'Here am I; send me.'" We are a ministry willing to go wherever the Lord sends us. That applies to traveling locally, regionally, nationally or even internationally. We aspire to be who the Lord calls us to be and we desire to go where the Lord leads us to go.
