As certain as the days get shorter and night falls sooner, we begin to prepare for the holidays with music that reflects the tradition that is Christmas. With the release of Anne Murray’s Christmas Album, what better way to embrace the wonderment of the season than with the fireside warmth of this classic singer performing timeless classics. The classic collection is complete with the addition of magical duets with multi-Platinum artist Michael Bublé on “Baby It’s Cold Outside” and a bonus track of ‘Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas’, with Grammy Award winning jazz vocalist, Diana Krall. The latter was originally recorded for a CBC Television special in 2001. The day of the taping, Murray and Krall decided to sing the carol as a duet. The end result was a new classic by two of the most distinctive voices in music today.
Anne selected her 10 favorite songs from “What A Wonderful Christmas” and added 5 new tracks. "What A Wonderful Christmas, released in 2001, was a huge success, selling over five hundred thousand units. "Over the years" Anne noted, "I've had people telling me that they really enjoy hearing me singing Christmas songs. On this current album, I tried to select songs that captured the tradition of Christmas". From the opening reverence of ‘Joy to the World’ to the serenity of ‘Silent Night’, the warmth and spirit of the season can be heard in every note, interpreted beautifully by Anne’s signature voice. All the classics are here – ‘Let It Snow’, ‘Away in a Manger’, ‘Silver Bells’, ‘White Christmas’, and ‘O Holy Night’, along with new recordings, Brenda Lee’s holiday hit, ‘Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree’, ‘Jingle Bell Rock’ and the country/rock staple ‘Blue Christmas’. Anne Murray’s Christmas Album features classics and favorites sung by one of the most beloved and recognized voices of our time - a seasonal treasure brimming with holiday memories. Throughout her distinguished career that was launched with the pop smash “Snowbird” in 1970, four time Grammy winning songstress Anne Murray has effortlessly crossed genre lines by releasing pop and country albums with such chart topping hits as You Needed Me, Could I Have This Dance, A Little Good News and Danny’s Song.
