V3: girl groups are back Print E-mail

The soulful Stellar Award-nominated group V3 (sisters LaToya, Shelley, and Sacha Vinson) understand that music is about the people and giving them the power of choice. That’s why the trio are handing the power to pick songs for their upcoming album--a power which is normally held by the record label--over to their fans. This week the Atlanta socialites launched the Pick Your V3 Remix campaign on mypace.com/V3music, which allows fans to cast a vote for the song they want featured on the CD. Three new tracks will be polled on myspace every Friday, but only the top 5 songs will make the cut. The promotion ends May 9th.

V3 Remixed Side A,--the group’s second project—is slated for digital release on May 27th. Their debut self titled album, released in 2006, sparked major attention from the underground mix DJ scene. Turntable kings from around the country took the groups original album and smashed it with more hip hop, R&B, pop and smooth reggae flava. In addition to significant DJs, A-list producers including Battle Roy, Monsta and Aaron Pierce took a turn at the remix action, adding top notch skills to songs like Take Me There, I Need You and Let Go. All in, V3 received more than 70 submissions for the remix project.

As emerging Gospel artists, sisters LaToya, Shelley and Sacha are ahead of the class. Their relevant lyrics and fashion forward appeal landed them a high profile endorsement deal with Fog Armor, which is a spiritually, nationally-focused urban clothing company based in Atlanta, GA. "Take Me There" the group's video introduction, peaked at the number 1 position on Gospel Music Channel Soul. Additionally, the same song reached the #2 spot on the Pop charts.
