Justin McRoberts 'deconstructs' Print E-mail

Known for his ability to blend artistry, honesty and humor seamlessly though his music, highly respected singer/songwriter and speaker Justin McRoberts has a new  album, Deconstruction, out now.  Sold through most digital music stores including iTunes, CDBaby, Napster, and Rhapsody, McRoberts' CD helps him continue to carve an impressive niche for himself within the independent music scene.

Produced by Masaki Liu, Mitch Dane and McRoberts, Deconstruction is laden with the same disarming honesty he is known for both in his recordings as well as his live performances. Deconstruction is a prescription for a healthy re-examination of established religious, consumer and scientific world views.

The themes of hope, justice and compassion also run through Deconstruction much as they run through McRoberts’ career in general.

McRoberts writes, “I believe these are the defining characteristics of our likeness to God. The need and desire to care for the poor and oppressed is something we share in common with all humanity, not simply the religious.”

Justin McRobertsCentral to McRoberts work is advocacy on behalf of the poor and oppressed, predominately through Compassion International, the International Justice Mission and the Blood Water Mission.

“Not only do the poor need us,” he writes, “but we need the poor to remind us what being human is about. In the same way that the poor learn to identify themselves with their lack, the wealthy likewise learn to identify themselves with their wealth. It is in the meeting of the two that we can recognize ourselves and one another as human.”

McRoberts began his recording career in 1998 signing with 5 Minute Walk and releasing Reason for Living in 1999. He followed up with Father in 2000 and left 5 Minute Walk that same year. Since becoming an independent artist, McRoberts has released five critically acclaimed albums and has received the respect and applause of both Christian and mainstream audiences.
