Billy Buchanan of Fusebox Print E-mail

After taking the second half of 2007 off to get more familiar with his new role as Worship Director at Good News Church in St. Augustine, FL, Billy Buchanan and the boys of Fusebox are getting back on the road in early February. This year, in support of his new solo album, Transparent, Billy Buchanan also happens to be headlining the worship Experience Tour.

Here's what Billy wrote to his fans in an email recently:

"The other day my son and I were trying to watch a football game on TV. It seemed like at every commercial break, they kept showing this Victoria Secret commercial with half dressed women in it. Normally, I just brush it off and try to enjoy the game. But on this day, I got really upset. I was trying to have a nice father and son afternoon with my boy and we were constantly subjected to this nonsense. I finally said, 'Enough!'

We changed the channel and found something else to watch. We missed some of the game. So what! It’s a small price to pay to protect our purity. This may seem a bit drastic to some of you. But I beg to differ.

Everyday in this sinful world we are subjected to lies, half truths, and deceit. The author of all of this is our enemy, the devil. Did you know that the devil is not omnipresent? He’s not God! He can’t be everywhere at once.

What the devil does best is deceive and distort. Satan will take good things that God created (sex, technology, music, art, etc) and use them in perverted ways. Sometimes it’s so subtle, but after a while we become numb to it. What use to shock us as believers, we now accept and tolerate. What use to enrage us, now barely comes up on our radar screens.

You’ve heard the saying, 'The devil made me do it.' Well, the devil can’t make us do anything. Every minute of every day we have the choice to do the right thing. That’s the power we have in Christ.

Romans 12:2 instructs, 'Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – His good, pleasing and perfect will.'

The more we dig into God’s Word, the more we see how misled the world around us has become. Protect your mind. That’s where the battle begins. Fill it with things that are pleasing to God. Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable, whatever is praiseworthy, meditate on these things. Then you won’t be tempted to say, 'The devil made me do it.'"
